Jacob's Pillow

I led the UX for the redesign of jacobspillow.org while a Junior UX Designer at Barrel NY.

With support from the rest of the UX team and through collaboration with the Design and Development teams, I conducted weekly client meetings, completed a site audit, and designed wireframes and sitemaps.

Calendar

• I conducted rounds of sketching, wireframing, and plug-in testing alongside the Development team to ensure the correct information would be pulled in for this feature.
• A challenge was considering on- and off-season calendar views (on-season has a lot of events, off-season has barely any) and how to design something sleek and useable for both instances. 
• I thought through user flows and conducted competitor research to understand how information is best understood via calendars. 
• The filter system for the calendar is two tier and allows for super customizable searching.

Performance Page

• I considered how key data on this page (date, ticket link, description, etc.) would be pulled into the calendar via the back-end of the website.
• I wanted to draw attention to the main goal– buying tickets– via the Buy Tickets button placement.
• Keeping the button both in the header and predominantly on the sidebar of the page was the best solution to guide users on the ticket buying path.

School Application

• To keep the number of page templates reasonable, I altered the Performance Page layout (left) to also work as the school application page.
• The interior paragraph text included styling options for links and subheadings. 
• I worked with the Design team to develop style guide implications for this complex page in order to achieve the correct hierarchy of information.

Navigation Wireframe

• A rough draft wireframe that led to the site's final navigation. 
• This wireframe reflects the site's new architecture and hierarchy via the main menu and the dropdown menus.
• The hierarchy of pages is apparent in the bolded "heading" categories and the smaller "sub categories" listed beneath them. 
• This mockup was eventually put into Invision, a prototyping app, to present to clients in a realistic and interactive manner.

Sitemap Draft

• This is the Jacob's Pillow website architecture we found after diving deeply into the old website.
• We worked off of this sitemap to create a new and improved site architecture.

Homepage Wireframe

• This is a final draft of the Jacob's Pillow homepage wireframe.
• Showcasing a variety of content pulled from intake done with the Jacob's Pillow team.

Mobile Calendar Wireframe

• An example of a rough draft wireframe that led to the site's final calendar.
• I designed the mobile and desktop calendar views simultaneously to ensure the responsive design was feasible. 
• A challenge for the mobile calendar was ensuring the different event types were clear– that is why icons/visuals were chosen to portray different features of various events.
• The date and day of week would be sticky, so users would scroll through the event info, with the date and day of week refreshing as they scrolled into a new section.
